I have really been enjoying my figure drawing class.
Here is my first complete piece.
Today I will be hanging my first pieces to go in a gallery – Ikebana and Ikebana #2
They will be in the Petite Galleria in San Jose’s Japantown. Needless to say, I am over the moon. If you are in the area please stop by to check out their collection.
I spent a lot of time meditating on this work.
I pulled inspiration from traditional Uncle Sam imagery, socialist realism, and a splattered drippy background I came up with this.
Today I thought – hey wouldn’t it be nice to paint and not be in front of the easel, perhaps on a comfy couch?
I’ve always wanted to try digital painting so I looked into brushes for photoshop.
Kyle’s Brushes are super affordable and amazing. I bought the gouache set for a whole whopping $7. I first heard about them while editing photos for a friend and listening to ArtProGoShow Episode #5. Kyle talks about his illustrations and his custom brushes for Photoshop. I know I’m not the first person to learn about them, but I am probably also not the last. I figure what the heck, I’ll try them.
Lo and behold here is my first shot at digital painting for Reddit Gets Drawn.
It’s a little messy, but it adds character – right?
I’m a podcast fanatic – if you have any recommendations please let me know.
